Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions (Print Version)

Tender beef strips and crisp onions in a savory sauce, stir-fried to perfection for a quick, flavorful weeknight dinner.

# Ingredients:

→ For the Steak

01 - 450g beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
02 - 2 tbsp vegetable oil
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
05 - 1 tbsp soy sauce
06 - 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
07 - 1 tsp sesame oil
08 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ For the Sauce

09 - 2 tbsp soy sauce
10 - 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
11 - 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
12 - 2 tbsp rice vinegar
13 - 1 tbsp cornstarch
14 - 2 tbsp vegetable oil

→ For the Onions

15 - 1 large onion, sliced
16 - 1 tbsp vegetable oil
17 - Salt and pepper to taste

# Steps:

01 - In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. Toss the beef strips in the marinade and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
02 - Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until soft and slightly caramelized. Season with salt and pepper, then remove from the pan and set aside.
03 - In the same pan, heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil over high heat. Add the marinated beef strips and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned.
04 - In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch. Pour the sauce over the beef and let simmer until it thickens.
05 - Add the sautéed onions back into the pan, stirring to combine. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
